Tracie Schanen, OT
Tracie received her degree in Occupational Therapy from Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1997. She has been focusing on the field of pediatrics her entire career. She is experienced in Early Intervention, Preschool, outpatient rehabilitation, home service and school settings. Tracie joined Kids In Motion in 2005. She is currently providing Occupational Therapy support to the Huron Valley School District for students ages 5-26. She is supporting a wide range of needs from fine motor development, self-help skill independence, and adaptive equipment access up through the development of vocational skills with young adults.
Tracie is SIPT certified and has additional expertise with Therapeutic Listening, NDT, MFR, Craniosacral Therapy, Kinesio Taping, Aquatic therapy and Handwriting Without Tears. Personal career interest areas include adaptive seating, AAC/Switch access, adaptive equipment modification, and Sensory Integration education and presentation.
The power of learning through play is of the utmost importance to Tracie. Through facilitated or adaptive play skills a child can find happiness and the intrinsic desire to grow and interact with their world. Tracie lives, works and plays in the Huron Valley community with her husband and two teen aged children. She loves going to the farm at Kensington Metropark, watching Marvel movies and cooking with home-grown vegetables and herbs.
